JABULANI KIDS CLUB

Saturday Kids Club (Jabulani Kids Club)
This was the first of the outreach works of iThemba Projects into Sweetwaters. We took over the running of this club in February 2005, and have been involved in it ever since.  We meet with between 100 and 200 children each Saturday and have a great time of worship, games, Bible teaching, craft and FUN with them! We also give the children juice and sandwiches for lunch which are provided by a number of the Bible Study groups from Hilton Baptist Church.

Jabula gakuluThe word “Jabulani” means “Let us rejoice” in Zulu, and as we look back on how God has provided for us and used this ministry to grow so many other ministries, we truly rejoice.

The children who attend this club are between the ages of 3 and 16 years old, and we divide them into four age-appropriate groups for the teaching and craft time. Each group is led by a Zulu adult, and most of the groups have a co-leader who assists them with planning, the preparation and the actual group time.

We try and ensure that there are ‘special events’ and outings for the children during the year as well. Such events are Teddy Bears Picnics, various camps, a Christmas party at the end of each year and craft mornings.
